Your European sim card will not work!
Most of us are so used to the fact that we can use the same simcard/phone provider within Europe that it is an easy thing to forget. There are a couple of things that you can do:
- Depend on WiFi. Typically at the airport there will be hotspot, and in your hotel there should also be complementary WiFi.
- Buy a Sim card at the airport. There are providers like Turkcell that over simcards with short term deals for Tourists. This would usually be something like 3 Gigs for 3 weeks or something like that.
- If your phone supports e-Sim I highly recommend the app airalo where you can purchase temporary e-sim cards for very good prices. For instance: 1Gb data in Turkey, for 1 week costs 4.50 Us Dollars.
Double check if you need a Visa based on your nationality!
I think nowadays both Dutch and German citizens do not need a separate visa, but I know that in the past Dutch citizens had to get one. Its not a lot of work to get it, it basically means you need to pay like 30 euros or something, but it would be unfortunate if you find out late.
Is the wedding indoor or outdoor?
The wedding will be outdoor! The dancefloor will be on stone tiles but the tables will be on grass so make sure you wear shoes/heels that can deal with that. We do not expect any rain and temperature wise it should also be warm enough at that time of year.
